ISRO Pragyan Rover
ISRO Pragyan Rover
The ISRO Pragyan ("Wisdom" in Sanskrit) Rover is a key component of India's Chandrayaan-2 mission, designed for lunar exploration. Weighing around 27 kilograms, Pragyan is equipped with advanced instruments and is designed for mobility on the Moon's surface.
Pragyan carries instruments like the Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer (APXS), Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscope (LIBS), and a Stereo Camera (STEREO). With six wheels and independent suspension systems, it can navigate the lunar terrain effectively. Solar panels provide power for its operations, and it communicates with the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter, which relays data to Earth.
The rover's primary mission is to study the lunar surface, analyze soil composition, and investigate the Moon's geological history and water ice distribution. ISRO's Pragyan Rover is a testament to India's commitment to lunar exploration and scientific research, contributing valuable insights into our understanding of the Moon.
